Grace Wales Bonner brings delicate romance and soulful nostalgia to her FW25 collection, combining precise tailoring with tributes to 20th-century Black style. Collaborating with Chicago artist Theaster Gates, the collection incorporates monochromatic portraits from The Black Image Corporation, featuring archival images from Ebony and Jet.
Photographs by Moneta Sleet Jr. and Isaac Sutton appear in overdyed prints and denim jacquard, exemplified by a cobalt blue shirt adorned with a repeating glamour shot, reminiscent of Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe prints. A denim jacket and shorts set highlights a model’s profile, while other standout looks include beige workwear trousers paired with a vibrant puffer vest and tees featuring enlarged glamour shots.
Outerwear takes center stage with a Crombie Ltd. collaboration on a navy grate coat with leather piping and golden buttons. Other pieces include a beige Japanese canvas coat with gold lock closures and an Italian leather flight jacket featuring fur-trimmed accents.
Jewel-toned knitwear and lace-like fabrics enhance the collection’s delicate detailing, while pink hues accent pieces like the “Infinite Soul” vintage tee and a new adidas Originals x Wales Bonner Jewel Mary Jane colorway.
