United Airlines expects this Fourth of July weekend to be their busiest ever, with over 5 million passengers and more than 4,400 flights per day. To ensure smooth operations, United’s Chief Customer Officer Linda Jojo, who has been with the airline for nearly a decade, shared tips for efficient travel.

Update Your App and Use Live Activities

Jojo emphasized the importance of keeping the airline app updated and enabling Live Activities for real-time information on boarding times, seats, and gates. The app’s new features, such as turn-by-turn navigation inside the airport, can save travelers up to 30 minutes per trip. Using the baggage shortcut can save an additional 5-7 minutes.

Start Checking The Weather 2 Days In Advance, Monitor Any Traffic or Construction Delays

Jojo advised passengers to monitor weather and road conditions several days before departure. Many airports, like Seattle’s SeaTac, are undergoing significant construction projects that may cause delays. Travelers should be prepared for changes and potential traffic jams around airports. The Port of Seattle shared in a release that construction at SeaTac includes 120 projects as part of the Upgrade SEA initiative.

Be On The Lookout for “Line Busters”

The weekend of Fourth of July has always marked a huge spike in flights throughout the country

United is increasing “line busting,” where staff help resolve customer issues quickly in line, often by directing them to the app for solutions. This approach helps speed up the process and reduce wait times.

Jojo, who plans to spend the Fourth of July in the Adirondacks, advises all travelers to allow plenty of time to make their flights and enjoy the holiday.
