When Tim Daly arrived in New York to film the first season of CBS’s *Madam Secretary* in 2014, he initially leased a sleek new apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Although the building included a gym and modern amenities, Daly felt the space resembled a hotel suite more than a home. It didn’t reflect his personality.

After securing his role for the long haul—as the professor, NSA operative, and on-screen husband to Téa Leoni’s lead character—Daly decided to make a permanent move. He bought a prewar co-op nearby for $1.55 million, appreciating its natural light, city views, and proximity to his daughter and Leoni. Speaking to The New York Times in 2016, Daly recalled visiting the apartment beneath his unit but passing on it due to its poor light. “They were asking the same amount of money as this place, so I thought maybe this was a good deal,” he said. “This was a very impulsive decision. Not to get too woo-woo, but there was a good vibe and I just kind of leapt.”

Now, nearly ten years later, Daly—best remembered as Joe Hackett from the ‘90s sitcom *Wings*—has listed the five-room apartment for just under $1.6 million. The Corcoran Group’s Fainna Kagan is handling the listing.

The seventh-floor unit sits within the 13-story, 94-residence DeSoto, a 1917 Neo-Renaissance building designed by Schwartz & Gross. Spanning 1,300 square feet, the co-op currently has two bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms, though marketing materials suggest a reconfiguration could add a third bedroom and third bath. The interiors blend vintage charm with clean, contemporary touches: nearly 10-foot ceilings, a combination of solid oak and painted parquet flooring, and ornate moldings.

The layout begins with a generous foyer that offers four closets and leads to a north-facing living and dining area. Just off that, the kitchen features custom off-white cabinetry, Carrera marble counters, a ceramic tile backsplash, a breakfast island, and upscale appliances by Viking and Fisher & Paykel. The kitchen also connects to a butler’s pantry and a nook for a washer and dryer. A rear hallway leads to a discreet service entrance and a private windowed office complete with a built-in desk and its own powder room.

The primary bedroom sits on a corner, receiving ample morning light from its eastern exposure and includes a large walk-in closet. It shares a bathroom with the second bedroom—featuring natural stone floors and a marble-topped vanity.

Owners at the DeSoto enjoy perks like a 24-hour doorman, a playroom, and a rooftop deck with herb gardens and seating areas. Monthly maintenance runs $3,228, but primary residents benefit from a 17 percent tax abatement that equates to roughly one free month of maintenance annually.

Daly, now 69, comes from a distinguished acting lineage. His father was James Daly of *Medical Center* fame, and his sister is Tyne Daly, best known for *Cagney & Lacey*. Beyond his *Wings* role as the older brother to Steven Weber’s character Brian Hackett, Daly has appeared in *The Sopranos*, HBO’s *From the Earth to the Moon*, *Private Practice*, and voiced Superman in *Superman: The Animated Series*.
