Designer Laura Gonzalez has transformed two levels of retail space inside New York’s historic One Wall Street skyscraper for Printemps New York, marking the U.S. debut of the French department store. Accessed through the iconic Red Room, originally tiled by Art Deco muralist Hildreth Meière, the 55,000-square-foot space weaves a fluid path through ten shopping zones that blend French elegance with contemporary design and sustainability.

Designer Laura Gonzalez has transformed two floors of One Wall Street into a dynamic new home for French department store Printemps.

Gonzalez drew from the spirit of a Parisian apartment and infused the store with all-upcycled materials, including recycled plastic tabletops and a freestanding floral sculpture made of plant-based resin in the Red Room. From haute couture boudoirs and spa-like makeup areas to scent rooms lined in green tile and a raw bar with hand-painted floral tiles, the design celebrates artistry without constraints. Highlights include a sculptural champagne bar by William Coggin and a fully immersive footwear room featuring an LED ceiling.

The homeware section features tiered shelving paired with sleek marble flooring.

The overhaul is part of a broader renovation of One Wall Street and reflects Gonzalez’s vision of “no boundaries,” merging Printemps’ heritage with the architectural spirit of New York.
