Just when it seemed the Pagani Zonda had reached its end with the 140th example unveiled last year, the marque has introduced a new one-off: the Zonda Unico. Built entirely in carbon fiber and finished in dark blue, the car was created through Pagani’s bespoke program at the request of an undisclosed client. Pagani didn’t confirm the powertrain, but it likely runs on an AMG-sourced V-12 producing 760 horsepower, consistent with other Zonda specials.

Pagani said the car was “born in the silence of the Kunlun Mountains,” referencing the western China range that inspired the design. The Zonda Unico features both a large rear wing and a secondary smaller spoiler, underlining its performance roots despite being fully custom.

Originally launched in 1999, the Zonda has outlived expectations, especially in an industry where one-off builds for high-paying clients are increasingly common. Pagani has long embraced this model, offering deep customization through its Unico program, which lets buyers dictate everything from bodywork and interiors to aerodynamic and mechanical specs.

While other luxury automakers—like McLaren, Lamborghini, and even Ferrari—cater to bespoke requests, Pagani’s approach seems to blur the line between finality and possibility. The Zonda Unico may not officially be number 141, but its very existence confirms that for the right price, the Zonda’s story is far from over.
