In the heart of North Carolina racing country, a new real estate record now carries the name of NASCAR champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The 2023 Daytona 500 winner has officially sold his sprawling Mooresville property, known as Slide Job Ranch, for $12.2 million—now the highest residential sale ever recorded in the greater Charlotte metro area. The deal, first reported by *The Wall Street Journal*, closed with an all-cash buyer from South Florida—someone completely outside the racing world despite the estate’s motorsport roots.
Stenhouse, who originally bought the property for $3.8 million in 2013, more than tripled his investment over a decade. The 140-acre estate has a rich motorsports lineage, having previously belonged to racers Ernie Irvan and Joe Nemechek. The home itself spans over 9,100 square feet and has undergone extensive renovations during Stenhouse’s tenure. Inside, it boasts a chef’s kitchen fitted with quartz countertops, a private library, a home theater, and numerous terraces overlooking the manicured grounds.
Outdoors, the lifestyle leans into luxury with a vanishing-edge pool, a pool house, a putting green, and an alfresco kitchen anchored by a fireplace. But what sets the property apart even more are its equestrian features: a 5,500-square-foot European-inspired stable with 18 custom stalls, a climate-controlled tack room, and a covered arena built to professional specifications.
Although the estate was last priced at $12.99 million, it was quietly sold after being taken off the open market. The transaction surpasses the previous local record of an $11.5 million sale on Lake Norman from July 2024. “This estate is truly one of a kind,” said Josh Tucker, one of the listing agents with Corcoran HM Properties. “Buyers at this price point are looking for more than just a home—they’re seeking privacy, lifestyle, and something exceptional.”
Stenhouse isn’t leaving the area, though. He and his wife Madyson still own a neighboring 160-acre tract purchased in 2018 and are reportedly planning to build a new residence nearby. In racing terms, it’s just another well-timed slide job.
