Manolo Blahnik has marked a significant milestone by opening its first store in China at Shanghai’s Plaza 66 luxury shopping mall, following a 22-year legal battle over its brand rights. The store, designed by CEO Kristina Blahnik, features a blend of Chinese craftsmanship and contemporary design, with vibrant displays of shoes and accessories. Located in a high-visibility area, the boutique offers customers a serene, uniquely styled space.

To celebrate the opening, the brand launched a limited-edition design inspired by Shanghai’s winter jasmine, a tribute to local culture. Blahnik expressed the emotional significance of this long-awaited entry into the Chinese market, emphasizing a focus on storytelling rather than immediate commercial gains. She stated that the company aims to “convey the ideas behind the collection” through small, curated events for local clients.

The brand’s expansion in Asia doesn’t stop with Shanghai. Earlier this year, Manolo Blahnik partnered with Bluebell Group to open stores in Hong Kong, including locations at Lee Gardens, Ocean Centre, and Pacific Place. With existing partnerships across Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, the company is strengthening its footprint in Asia while also planning flagship openings in Miami and Milan in early 2025.

At the launch, Blahnik hosted an intimate dinner at Yong Foo Elite, attended by VIP guests and Chinese actor Oho Ou, underscoring the brand’s dedication to establishing a meaningful presence in the Chinese luxury market.
