Jay Leno has added a rare gem to his already legendary car collection: the unreleased McLaren W1 Hypercar, estimated to start at $2.1 million. Known for his affinity for classic cars, Leno has also embraced modern supercars, and he was so impressed with the W1 during filming of Jay Leno’s Garage that he bought one himself. It now joins his fleet of McLarens, which includes a 1994 F1 worth around $20 million and several others like the P1 and MP4-12C.

McLaren CEO Michael Leiter joined Leno on the show to present the prototype and detail its unique design. Billed as the “real supercar,” the W1 focuses not just on performance, but also emotion. Its standout aerodynamic feature is a rear tail that boosts downforce and road grip, contributing to the car’s smooth ride.

Although Leno couldn’t test drive it—since the prototype isn’t functional yet—production is scheduled to begin in early 2026. All 399 units are already sold, making it an ultra-exclusive addition to the hypercar market.
