Fondation Cartier pour l’art Contemporain has revealed plans for its new gallery space in Paris, designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel. The new site, located at Place du Palais-Royal near the Louvre, is set to open in late 2025 and will feature 6,500 square meters of exhibition space, including five customizable “mobile platforms” allowing for dynamic exhibition layouts.

Nouvel’s design promises flexible spaces for diverse exhibitions, with large bay windows offering views of historic streets like Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, the foundation has showcased artist portraits on the building’s windows, honoring those who have collaborated with the institution.

The Fondation Cartier, established in 1984, will move from its current Montparnasse location once the new gallery opens. The new site aims to further enrich Paris’s vibrant contemporary art scene, joining other high-profile private art foundations like Bernard Arnault’s Fondation Louis Vuitton and François Pinault’s Bourse de Commerce.
