As New York Fashion Week shifts with more designers going international or off-schedule, one moment broke through the noise. Former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful stepped into the spotlight with his first-ever fashion line, partnering with luxury outerwear brand Moncler through his new media company, EE72. While Enninful has collaborated with Moncler in the past, this marks his official foray into design—and it’s nothing short of cinematic.
The new Moncler x EE72 collection brings together haute fashion sensibility and technical performance. It includes transformative pieces like a trench coat with a removable puffer shell that can be carried like a backpack using built-in interior straps. This modular design speaks directly to Enninful’s signature editorial storytelling, now translated into fabric.
Fashion Meets Function in a Visual Narrative
Shot by acclaimed photographer Tyler Mitchell and featuring supermodel Adut Akech, the campaign is set against elemental backdrops—harsh winds, swirling sand, dramatic snowstorms. Akech, whom Enninful has worked with since her early days, embodies the narrative of a woman who is resilient, bold, and unapologetically modern.
“She immediately captured the woman we are designing for,” said Enninful. “Resilient, independent, and innovative.” The imagery paints a portrait of a glamorous survivor, prepared for any climate—literal or cultural.
Design as Storytelling
“Working with Moncler allowed me to push the boundaries of my creativity,” Enninful said in a behind-the-scenes discussion. “With this collection, I wanted to merge the house’s legacy with my vision—imagining an extreme new world with a strong, elegant figure at the center.”
Despite stepping into a new role as designer, Enninful remains anchored to what made him a fashion heavyweight: the editorial set. “Being on set is one of my favorite places,” he added. “That’s where collaboration crystallizes and where real magic happens. Watching this vision take shape alongside some of my favorite creative minds was unforgettable.”
This debut doesn’t just represent a clothing line; it signals a wider evolution for both Moncler and Enninful. For Moncler, it is a reaffirmation of its place in the luxury conversation. For Enninful, it is a bold first step in a post-Vogue career that clearly has many chapters left to write.
