Daniel Tosh is ready to sell his lakeside real estate in Lake Tahoe. The former Tosh.0 host and current podcaster has listed his multi-home compound on the lake’s west shore for just shy of $12 million. Situated on property between Sunnyside and Tahoe City, the estate couples rustic vibes with high-end finishes in an ultra-rare type of escape in the High Sierra.

In 2018, Tosh bought the 1.6-acre site to the raise of around $7 million—and to find a place to unwind in between tour dates. “Holidays at the lake are the only times I’m not stressed,” he stated in a statement. “My in-laws love to come visit so having multiple, separate cabins, I could keep my Tahoe Zen.”

A Lakefront Escape With Three Homes

Daniel Tosh House

Two lots make up the estate with three individual buildings and 93 feet of private waterfront. The main house is sited at the top of the slope which was designed in 2008 by architect Gary Mckelvey and custom builder Doug Drake has big glass walls to highlight the views of the lake. The main house is linked to two updated guest cabins that sit near the water by a two-part system; a funicular and a winding staircase that cuts through the pine-studded property to the waterfront.

The 2,649-square-foot main house features four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with classic Tahoe deal of dark wood shingles, stone, and red-trimmed dormers. Inside, interiors designed by High Camp Home feature reclaimed timber found in one of Northern California’s last water-powered mills. Spread out over three elevator-serviced levels, it has a vaulted great room with a striking stone fireplace, a chef’s kitchen with tritone cabinets and top-of-the-line stainless appliances, and a lower level entertainment area with even a commercial-grade ice cream machine.

Summer Camp Vibes With a Luxe Spin

The two guesthouses just add a little more character to the property. Both built in the early 1900s, they have been outfitted and updated with modern conveniences. One has three bedrooms, knotty pine interior, a stone hearth, and airy kitchen with lots of natural light. The smaller of the guest houses was originally a boat shed and now is a charming bungalow with a lakeside deck with lofted sleeping, and retro-style kitchenette.

Outside, every amenity is offered: hot tub, fire pit, grilling area, bocce ball court, and even private ski runs, all graded from green to black diamond. And, a funicular lift provides easy access, ski lodge-style, from each structure to the shore line.

Listing agent Kristina Bergstrand at Compass says they can’t describe the charm until someone has experienced it. “The former boat gear storage shed is now Meema’s cabin, and it is to die for,” she said. “The French doors open up to the lake, every part of the beach at the lake to smell the fresh pine in the air. It feels like summer camp but with all the modern luxuries.”

Whether you are a stand-up comedy aficionado, or are just daydreaming about a lakeside retreat with a couple of runs and your own ice cream machine included, Tosh’s compound is a unique fusion of whimsy, seclusion, and luxury.
