Britain will soon unveil its first luxury sleeper train, the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, UK, set to launch in July 2025. Offering scenic routes through Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales, this opulent train will redefine rail travel with its lavish design and curated itineraries.

The 18 cabins, including three grand suites, feature exquisite details such as finely crafted oak paneling, plush velvet furnishings, and decor inspired by English gardens. Prices start at £11,000 ($14,103) for a three-night journey, covering gourmet meals, beverages, and guided excursions. Designed by Albion Nord, the interiors create the effect of a “moving painting,” combining elegance with breathtaking views.

The suites are a sumptuous array of textures.

Passengers can mingle in the Dining Cars, Malva and Samphire, where botanical-inspired decor complements menus crafted by award-winning chef Simon Rogan. Each dish reflects the diverse landscapes of the journey, from coastal cliffs to serene lakes and rolling mountains. The Observation Car, with its Victorian apothecary-inspired bar, serves botanical cocktails, artisan gins, and craft beers, creating a vibrant garden-party atmosphere.

For those seeking relaxation, the Wellness Suite offers treatments inspired by the sea, along with off-board wellness activities. The train’s carriages, renovated from 1970s Intercity Rail Mark 3, honor Britain’s legacy as a rail pioneer, dating back to Richard Trevithick’s first steam locomotive in 1804.

The itineraries showcase some of Britain’s finest landscapes. In Cornwall, explore the rugged Penzance coastline and the quaint villages of Lostwithiel. The Lake District offers dramatic peaks and tranquil lakes, while the Welsh route spans the mountains of Snowdonia National Park and the beaches of Pembrokeshire.

Blending luxury, history, and stunning scenery, the Britannic Explorer promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience for discerning travelers.
