Bonhams’ second annual Miami Auction, held at the Miami International Autodrome ahead of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, pulled in over $12.6 million despite its headline car—a 2009 Brawn BGP001—failing to meet reserve. The F1 chassis, one of only three used during Brawn GP’s unexpected 2009 championship season, carried an estimate between $4.5 million and $6.5 million but went unsold.

Still, the auction generated strong excitement and results, with more than 250 attendees watching cars roll across the stage under the winner’s podium where Oscar Piastri would later claim his trophy. One of the standout sales was a 1990 Porsche 911 Classic Turbo Reimagined by Singer, which brought in $1.68 million. This heavily personalized restomod was the first of its kind from Singer’s Classic Turbo series to hit the auction block. Bonhams consignment specialist Louis Frankel noted the market’s growing appreciation for custom performance vehicles, saying, “Collectors are going back to things they want to drive.”

A 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT also attracted considerable attention, with spectators rising to photograph the rare silver supercar. Though Bonhams didn’t disclose the final price, the car was expected to fetch between $1.45 million and $1.65 million.

Additional highlights included a one-of-one 2019 Ford GT Carbon Series in Epic Orange that sold for $828,000 and a 1971 Alfa Romeo GTA-R restomod by Alfaholics, which brought in $392,000. While Ferraris didn’t dominate the event, several still sold well: a 2005 Superamerica reached $403,200, a 2014 458 Italia sold for $257,600, and a 1991 Testarossa went for $156,800.

The auction also featured high-profile automobilia. Charles Leclerc’s 2020 Turkish Grand Prix helmet sold for $57,600, and Fernando Alonso’s 2004 Renault helmet went for $38,400. A premium 2025 Silverstone British Grand Prix experience hosted by Sir Jackie Stewart raised $80,000 for Race Against Dementia.

With robust bidding, a high-energy atmosphere, and strong results across custom builds and iconic models, Bonhams’ Miami event proved that automotive passion in the U.S. is only accelerating.
