Beijing has inaugurated the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center (CIECC), a major addition to the city’s commercial and cultural landscape. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), the center enhances Beijing’s capacity to host conventions, international conferences, and industry expos.
Strategically located near Beijing Capital International Airport and along Subway Line 15, CIECC’s north-south axis seamlessly connects its nine exhibition halls. Elevated bridges link the conference center, exhibition spaces, and hotel, ensuring efficient indoor circulation. The pleated deep copper-colored façade and recessed windows create a balance between industrial scale and aesthetics, while the composite roof system allows for spacious, column-free interiors adaptable to various event needs.
CIECC integrates smart building management with hybrid ventilation, optimizing indoor air quality while reducing energy consumption. Rainwater collection, gray water recycling, and photovoltaics for on-site energy generation contribute to its highest certification under China’s Green Building Program.
Now Beijing’s largest and most advanced exhibition venue, CIECC expands the city’s event facilities to 611,000 square meters, adding nine exhibition halls, three reception halls, a conference center for 9,000 delegates, and a 410-room hotel.
