Renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the creative mind behind iconic scents like Baccarat Rouge 540, has crafted a bespoke fragrance for Air France, titled AF001. Launching on January 15, the scent is now featured in select Air France lounges and La Première suites at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, offering travelers a luxurious sensory experience.

AF001 blends jasmine, rose, musk, and mimosa, evoking feelings of lightness, vibrancy, and serenity. The fragrance’s name pays homage to Air France’s historic Concorde flights between New York and Paris, celebrating the airline’s rich heritage. Kurkdjian, born in Paris to Armenian parents, channeled his expertise to encapsulate the “je ne sais quoi” of French elegance in this exclusive creation.

With a career that includes iconic scents like Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male, Burberry Her, and his role as Dior’s perfume creation director, Kurkdjian’s artistry is widely celebrated. Reflecting on his work for Air France, he stated, “It was the illusion of a ray of sunshine on the wings of an aircraft that inspired me to create this light, fresh, and comforting home fragrance.”

Travelers who aren’t heading to Paris can still indulge in Kurkdjian’s creations through his Fragrance Wardrobe collections, featuring travel-sized bottles of his bestsellers, or the Globe Trotter Travel Spray Case, designed for TSA-friendly use.

Kurkdjian’s collaboration with Air France is another milestone in his illustrious career, adding an olfactory dimension to luxury travel. For those flying with Air France, the AF001 fragrance transforms airport lounges into spaces of aromatic bliss, merging travel and elegance in true French style. Arriving early at CDG Airport to savor this experience may become a must for perfume enthusiasts and travelers alike.
